Chairman’s opening remarks – The chairman welcomed those present to the meeting Minutes of last meeting, 1st June 2009 These had been circulated and read in advance of the meeting. Proposed by : Robin Aitken Seconded by : Brian Newcombe Chairman’s Report Kenny said that this was the first report of the new four year term and that six public meetings have been held since the last AGM. He thanked all those who have attended these meetings, contributed to the agendas, taken part in the debates and made the committee members feel it has all been worthwhile. He said that the present committee is about to start the second year of a four year term of office. Ideally the Community Council should have eight members and attendees were invited to fill the vacant posts. At present the six committee members share the load of the Community Council. Jennifer is the planning secretary. Jim represents the Community Council on the West Lothian Association of Community Councils and is also a committee member of the association Jill attends and reports on the Community Health and Care Partnership meetings and other ad-hoc health related issues. Mary is the Community Council representative on the Parents Council at Bellsquarry Primary School. All of the Community Council, but in particular Christine, Jennifer and Kenny attend meetings and events throughout the year reporting their findings and observations where relevant. The Community Council also has assistance from non community council members. Robin Aitken continues in his role as Neighbourhood Watch coordinator. Ann Street is the Woodlands representative Alice Tait will attend the Senior Persons forum and report back to the Community Council. The Community Council has continued to meet informally at Kenny’s house during an evening prior to the public meetings to discuss agendas and other community council matters. The main topics discussed during the year were:- Planning applications, Woodland Workgroup activities. Brucefield Industry Park, in particular in relation to the occupancy by the travelling people, height and density of trees and diesel spillages. Various matters were taken up with West Lothian Council. Kenny thanked Councillor Fitzpatrick and fellow Community Council members for their help and support. He gave a special mention to Christine who has once again kept him right. Thanks also were given to Jessie and Joan who have continued to ensure that the Community Council has access to the hall. Lastly thanks were given to all those who have helped in any way and included in that are Messrs Newcombe and Street for auditing the books. Treasurer’s Report In the absence of the treasurer Kenny read out the Treasurer’s report which has been audited.
