A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We are currently planning for an estimated budget shortfall of £45 million by 2014, and are in the process of consulting with the community over a large number of officer-led proposals to save money while focusing on providing core council services.
“The consultation phase will continue until 30 June 2010 and we would welcome the views of as many local residents as possible on what their priorities are.
“No decisions will be made on these proposals before December 2010, as the consultation has to be completed then referred to councillors for discussion.”
